Presentation: Iceland by Kayak
An Oregon Ocean Paddling Society (OOPS) event: Nigel Foster and Geoff Hunter set off on a shoestring adventure in 1977, to explore a country of just 222,000 people. Hear Nigel tell the story of the First Circumnavigation of Iceland by Kayak, and how such an expedition came about. Rewind to a time before dry suits, cellphones, the home computer, and the World Wide Web, twenty years before Google came onto the scene. With no hand-held waterproof VHF radios, or GPS, with no way to remotely access a weather forecast, is anyone for curried seagull? Nigel’s presentation expands on some of the stories he tells in his newly released book, Iceland by Kayak.
