The first Sea Kayak Symposium to be held in Italy was held on the weekend of 16-18 May 2008, timed to follow the Vogalonga event the previous weekend, 11th May. The Vogalonga is an annual paddle festival/race through the lagoon and canals of Venice. Check these blog entries about the event by nigel and kristin.
