The drive south from Seattle passes amny view-points from which to check out the swell Preparing for the day at a quiet launch site Before entering the surf, everyone checks out the pattern of sets and lulls, looking for rips and sweet break points Punching out Posing for the camera at the end of a great run Mike on land after some great rides As mist rolls in, spotting becomes more difficult While some of the group rest and watch the others surf Kristin instructing on the beach Offshore rocks offer some protection from the full force of the swell, but also cause wrap-around waves and a more complex break pattern Steeper heavier breaks toward the more exposed end of the beach At this location the sandbanks offer a protected zone close to shore with surf breaking further from shore Ben and Kristin keepng watch from the beach Making our way through the low tide channels between the sand banks back to the cars...
